The Arts

Lately I have been interested in art, whether it be photography, or my shot making abilities. Yes I believe golf is an art, a very intricate one at that. I listened and responded to some NPR "This I Believe" segments which talked about music, and how it can effect the people around you. It won't only effect the peope around you, but more importantly, it will effect yourself in a deeper way. I am glad these people belive strongly in their beliefs, so that I can learn about true being, and apply it to myself. I have found another way to express everything that I can express, in ways through art, while giving my surrondings a positive feeling.

Yah I've just recently got a underwater housing for my camera so I guess I have been interested also in arts (photography). Golf is definently an very difficult art to master with the many different angles, clubs, and terrain. I also liked the "This I Believe" essays because they definently make you think deeper about what you value and believe in.

Very cool way to express you way by using your surroundings. Sometimes its good to take some time and view the world in a different perspective. It gives you more information than taking things in a "linear" perspective.

Golf is interesting because I'm not sure if it's something that can be truly taught to perfection. You're the golfer here so maybe you can provide an answer. For one, I don't think art can be taught. To me it seems like it's really something you either understand or you don't. And I do believe that golf is an art - I mean, if you train enough, will you be able to knock out birdies like nobody's business?

I believe that in art the most important thing to learn (and be taught) is the "rules". Once you have the "rules" learned, then the true art knowing when and how to break and/or bend them.

Colton--can you explain why golf is feels like art to you? I'm not a golfer but would be a cool perspective to hear.

That's awesome that you want to express yourself in a positive way through art. If you really think about it, art to a certain extent is in our everyday lives whether we realize it or not. Art can even be our daily routines, each are unique and cool. It could even be an answer to one of our essential questions.
